End of an Era for Popular Food Review Channel

YouTube star Danny Malin has announced his departure from the hit channel Rate My Takeaway, citing ‘challenges behind the scenes’.

The Yorkshire-based content creator has built Rate My Takeaway into one of the UK’s most popular YouTube channels, amassing over 500 million views and nearly 800,000 subscribers.

Health Concerns and Behind-the-Scenes Challenges

Malin revealed that he suffered two strokes 18 months ago, which ‘put life into perspective.’ He expressed that while he’s been ‘scared to leave his role as presenter of the channel because it means so much to me,’ he feels now is the right time to ‘re-establish myself as Danny.’

The decision comes amid internal challenges, as Malin disclosed that despite being an equal party in the business alongside the editor and cameraman, he hasn’t been granted equal access to RMT’s social media or YouTube channel. He currently cannot control comments or the Danny Malin Facebook page.

Future Plans and Ongoing Projects

Despite stepping away from Rate My Takeaway, Malin will continue creating content on his other YouTube channel, which he runs with his wife, Sophie Mei Lan. He also maintains involvement with the Rate My Takeaway kitchen, a food hall in Huddersfield.

Known for his catchphrases like ‘Now then guys back ont the road again’ and his signature farewell ‘See you soon guys,’ Malin has expanded beyond YouTube to become a TV presenter, columnist, and even released Christmas hits with Toddla T.

In his parting message to fans, Malin acknowledged their unwavering support, stating: ‘The fans have been amazing, and stuck by me. I will keep creating content so I hope you will all continue to join me for my journey.’
