Wolverhampton Woman Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Husband’s Murder in Newport
Breaking: Life Sentence Handed Down in Domestic Murder Case
Amy Pugh, 34, from Stafford Road in Wolverhampton, has been sentenced to life imprisonment at Stafford Crown Court for the murder of her estranged husband Kyle Pugh. The court ruled she must serve a minimum of 14 years before being eligible for parole.
The Fatal Incident
The tragic events unfolded on March 22, 2022, at Pugh’s home on Aston Drive in Newport, Shropshire, following an argument between the separated couple. Kyle, who was 29 at the time and in a new relationship, was fatally injured. Before calling emergency services, Pugh made several phone calls to her father, including a 20-minute call with a six-minute video chat.
When finally contacting emergency services, Pugh falsely claimed Kyle had attempted suicide by hanging himself. She was found performing CPR when paramedics arrived at around 9:15 PM. During this time, she continued making calls to her father while telling officers that Kyle had attempted suicide multiple times before, claiming she had previously saved his life.
Pattern of Concerning Behavior
Prior to the murder, in October 2021, Pugh was found guilty of arson after burning down Kyle’s workshop, where he worked as a local MC and artist. In a disturbing act, she sent Kyle videos of his burning workshop while singing ‘Ring of Fire.’
In the period between Kyle’s death and her arrest, Pugh maintained an active social media presence, creating over 180 TikTok videos. Just two weeks before Kyle’s death, she posted a video outside Malinsgate Police Station, declaring “If I’m so bad 3 times in one month but I’m let out with an NFA [No Further Action] I AM NOT AN ABUSER”.
Justice Served
Emily Clewer from the Crown Prosecution Service commented on the sentencing, stating that Pugh’s actions had “robbed Kyle Pugh of the rest of his life and deprived his family of their loved one.” While acknowledging that no sentence can bring Mr. Pugh back to his family, she expressed hope that they might find some comfort in knowing his killer has been brought to justice. The prosecution extended their thoughts to Mr. Pugh’s family during this difficult time.
