Tour of Britain 2025: Complete Route Guide from Suffolk Coast to Welsh Capital

A Historic East-to-West Journey
The 2025 Lloyds Tour of Britain will run from September 2-7, covering six action-packed stages. The route stretches from the East Suffolk coastline to the Welsh capital Cardiff, passing through Mid Suffolk, Milton Keynes, Central Bedfordshire, Warwickshire, Torfaen, Monmouthshire, and Newport, totaling 886 kilometres (551 miles) of racing.
Stage Breakdown
Stage one opens with a 161.4km coastal route from Woodbridge to Southwold in Suffolk, passing through scenic towns including Grundisburgh, Aldeburgh, and Thorpeness. The second day features a 169.3km circuit starting and finishing in Stowmarket, with riders tackling the classified Semer Hill climb near Hadleigh.
Stage three takes riders on a 122.8km journey between Milton Keynes and Ampthill, featuring a double loop around Northill and Old Warden, with a classified climb at Hillfoot measuring 700m at 5.2%.
The fourth stage, marking the longest of the tour at 186.9km, runs from Atherstone to Burton Dassett Hills Country Park. This challenging stage features six categorised king of the mountains climbs – the most of any stage in the 2025 route.
A Memorable Finale
The final stage holds special significance as it will mark Geraint Thomas’s last professional race. Starting outside the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome in Newport, the route passes the Maindy Velodrome where Thomas began his cycling journey. The stage features the challenging category-one Caerphilly Mountain climb (1.3km at 10%) before finishing in Cardiff, Thomas’s hometown.
Race Significance
The event will feature 114 riders representing 19 teams and 19 different nations. Notable participants include Olympic champion Remo Evenepoel, double world road race champion Julian Alaphilippe, and 2018 Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas in his final professional race.
