Key Service Updates and Infrastructure Changes

Network Rail is conducting regular planned engineering works on the Thameslink network to maintain and improve railway services. These works typically occur during weekends or after 10 PM, though some services may be impacted at other times.

A significant development includes the closure of the Thameslink Core section through central London, resulting in services terminating at either London Bridge or London St Pancras International. This means no services will run across central London. London Underground services will operate for most of the day but will cease around 18:00, severely affecting travel across central London.

Brighton Pride 2025 Service Enhancement

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) has announced enhanced train services for Brighton & Hove Pride 2025, scheduled for Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 August 2025. The expanded service will improve connectivity between Brighton, London, Gatwick Airport, Lewes, Seaford, Eastbourne, Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, and Chichester.

The enhancement includes the operation of 12-carriage Thameslink services between London Bridge and Brighton, and 12-carriage Gatwick Express between London Victoria and Brighton. These additions will significantly increase seating and standing room capacity, ensuring safer and more comfortable journeys during peak times.

Looking Ahead: Timetable Changes

The railway has confirmed its operational timetable until Saturday 13 December 2025, with downloadable timetables and key changes now available to passengers.

Safety and Accessibility Measures

Public safety and security remain paramount priorities. For major events, GTR has implemented government guidelines including a ban on glass bottles and containers on all GTR-run trains and stations. Passengers are permitted to carry plastic bottles and cans that comply with safety and sustainability standards.

Passengers are advised to allow extra time for journeys and purchase tickets in advance to avoid delays. GTR has enhanced its digital services, offering tickets through official channels including the Southern and Thameslink apps and websites, aligning with government initiatives to increase digital ticket adoption.
