Tate McRae’s Meteoric Rise: From Dance Prodigy to Global Pop Superstar

Chart-Topping Success
Tate McRae has achieved a massive milestone with her third studio album ‘So Close to What’, released February 21 on RCA Records. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning 177,000 equivalent album units in its opening week.
The achievement has catapulted McRae to become the top musical act in the U.S., joining Taylor Swift and SZA as the only women to lead the Artist 100 in 2025.
Album Impact and Singles Success
The album has made an immediate impact on the charts, with 11 songs landing on the Billboard Hot 100. Leading the pack is “Sports Car”, which climbed to No. 16, followed by “Revolving Door” at No. 22.
McRae has also dominated the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart, where “Revolving Door” debuted at No. 1, marking her second chart-topper following “It’s OK I’m OK” in January.
World Tour and Future Prospects
Following the album’s success, McRae has announced her Miss Possessive Tour, which commenced on March 18, 2025. The tour will see her traveling through Europe, Canada and North America through the end of September 2025, featuring special guests Zara Larsson and Benee.
Industry analysts suggest that ‘So Close to What’ is well-positioned to maintain its chart presence, though its long-term success may depend on whether any of its tracks can match the phenomenal performance of McRae’s previous hit “Greedy” from 2023-24.
