System of a Down’s Triumphant Return: Stadium Tours and Band Reunion Mark 2025 Calendar
A Historic Return to Stadiums
System of a Down, the iconic Los Angeles hard-rock/metal band, has announced massive stadium concerts for Summer 2025. This marks a significant shift from their recent years of limited appearances, which mainly consisted of festival headlining spots and occasional one-off shows.
North American Stadium Tour
The North American leg kicks off at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on August 27-28 with special guests KORN, followed by two nights at Soldier Field in Chicago (August 31-September 1) with Avenged Sevenfold, and concludes at Rogers Stadium in Toronto on September 3 and 5 with Deftones. The demand has been overwhelming, with shows selling out within hours of announcement, leading to additional dates being added at each venue.
South American ‘Wake Up!’ Tour
The band is also embarking on a seven-show ‘Wake Up! South America’ stadium tour, beginning April 24 in Bogota, Colombia at the Estadio Nemésio Camacho El Campin, followed by shows in Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. The tour will conclude with three shows across Curitiba, Rio De Janeiro, and São Paulo. These performances mark the band’s first South American appearances since 2015.
Band Dynamics and Future Prospects
According to the band, they maintain their characteristic independence, refusing to be pressured into activities. Their philosophy remains that ‘the less we push, the more we’ll do,’ with performances driven purely by their desire and love for the music. While fans eagerly await new material, there are hints of a possible follow-up to their 2005 double release, Mezmerize and Hypnotize, though no concrete details have been confirmed about their sixth studio album.
The 2025 touring schedule represents a significant return to form for System of a Down, following their spring South American run and the recent successful North American stadium shows, demonstrating their continued relevance and drawing power in the modern rock landscape.
