Stacey Dooley’s Bold Return: From Roma Communities to Rising Crime in Britain

A Celebrated Documentary Maker’s New Chapter
Stacey Dooley, the English television presenter, journalist, and media personality, continues to make waves in 2025 with a series of compelling new documentaries that showcase her signature investigative style.
Current Projects and Recognition
March 2025 marks the premiere of her latest season on BBC Three, where Dooley returns with her characteristic empathetic approach to examine pressing issues faced by young people globally. The first episode takes viewers to Bulgaria, exploring the lives of young individuals within the Roma Gypsy community.
This new series comes as part of BBC Three’s expanded commitment to produce more shows with Dooley, including an additional single documentary and two series. The announcement coincides with Dooley receiving the prestigious Trustees’ Award at this year’s Grierson Awards.
Tackling Britain’s Shoplifting Crisis
One of her most anticipated projects addresses a growing domestic crisis: Britain is experiencing a shoplifting epidemic, with recorded crimes at their highest since records began. The impact on British businesses is substantial, with losses amounting to £1.8 billion annually.
In this timely investigation, Dooley explores how shoplifting has spiraled out of control, examining various perspectives – from young graduates who feel entitled to more from society, to self-checkout swipers, and those who claim they steal to survive.
Evolution of a Storyteller
Dooley has established herself as a unique voice in British broadcasting, transforming from her early days in retail to becoming an award-winning investigative journalist. Her distinctive approach, characterized by empathy, directness, and a commitment to giving a voice to the voiceless, has resonated with millions and brought often-overlooked social issues to the forefront of public consciousness.
Beyond her documentary work, Dooley continues to expand her portfolio, with the release of her new book ‘Dear Minnie: Conversations with Remarkable Mothers’ in March 2025, and an upcoming role in the UK tour of the play ‘2:22 A Ghost Story’ from August 2025.
