Run Norwich 2025: Community Running Festival Expands with New Features and Record Participation
A Growing Community Celebration
Set for September 7, 2025, Run Norwich is preparing to welcome 8,500 participants for its signature 10K race through Norwich’s historic city centre. The event, organized by the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, promises an electric race-day atmosphere as runners tackle a course with an elevation gain of 172 meters.
New Initiatives and Features
In a progressive move towards sustainability, Run Norwich 2025 has introduced an optional medal-free initiative, with participants who choose this eco-friendly option receiving special recognition with an ‘I’ve gone medal free’ motif on their race bibs.
The event is expanding its reach with the return of Run Norwich Junior for its second year. This 1.52km fun run takes place before the main race, allowing young participants to experience the excitement of race day while running the first kilometre of the celebrated Run Norwich course.
Course and Entertainment
The urban route features fast, central streets with enthusiastic spectator support and entertainment throughout the course. The event has built a reputation for being big, friendly, and upbeat, with fantastic support along the entire route.
Spectators can enjoy multiple viewing spots, with the start line at Theatre Royal and the finish line outside City Hall. The timing allows viewers to catch both the start and finish, with approximately thirty minutes between the starting gun and the winner crossing the finish line.
Race Village and Celebrations
Post-race festivities will continue at the Race Village in Chapelfield Gardens, featuring music and various food and drink vendors. The winners’ ceremony will take place on the main bandstand at 11:10am, where the champions will receive their trophies.
For 2025, the event has also expanded its merchandise offerings with a new retail space at The Nest, featuring both the traditional Run Norwich training range and an exciting new children’s collection.
