Breaking News in British Food Content Creation

YouTube star Danny Malin has officially announced his departure from the hit channel Rate My Takeaway, citing ‘challenges behind the scenes’.

A Remarkable Journey

Having grown Rate My Takeaway into one of the UK’s most popular YouTube channels, Malin shot to fame during the pandemic with his hilarious Facebook videos. The food reviewer’s success on YouTube has been remarkable, accumulating over 500 million views and nearly 800,000 subscribers.

Health Concerns and Behind-the-Scenes Challenges

The decision comes after serious health concerns, as Malin revealed: “I had two strokes 18 months ago and that put life into perspective. My family and friends have been amazing and I’ve been so scared to leave my role as presenter of the channel because it means so much to me but now is the right time to re-establish myself as Danny.”

Internal challenges also contributed to his departure. As Malin explained, while the channel operated with equal pay among himself, the editor, and cameraman, he was not granted equal access to the channel’s social media or YouTube presence, nor could he control comments or manage the Danny Malin Facebook page.

Looking Ahead

Despite stepping away from Rate My Takeaway, Malin remains optimistic about his future, planning to continue creating content, running his food court, and focusing on his health and family life.

Fans can still follow Malin through his weekly column in the Yorkshire Evening Post and his other YouTube channel, which he runs with his wife, Sophie Mei Lan. He will also continue to help run the Rate My Takeaway kitchen, a food hall in Huddersfield.

Beyond his YouTube success, Malin has established himself as a familiar face on TV, writes regular columns, hosts live events, and has even released Christmas songs with Sheffield producer Toddla T, demonstrating his versatility in entertainment and content creation.
