The Pokémon Company International has announced their latest Trading Card Game expansion, Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames, scheduled for release on November 14, 2025, in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Mega Evolution Returns
This release represents a strategic return of Mega Evolutions to the Pokémon TCG after several years, coinciding with the upcoming release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The expansion will feature six Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and four Pokémon ex, alongside 17 ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Trainer, and Energy cards. Additionally, it includes 13 illustration rare Pokémon cards and five special illustration rare Supporter cards.
Featured Pokémon and Specifications
The set prominently features Mega Gengar ex, Mega Diancie ex, and Mega Charizard ex as cover Pokémon, with Secret Rare cards planned for each. The name ‘Phantasmal Flames’ hints at both Ghost-type and Fire-type aspects of the set.
Product Availability and Digital Access
Players can find Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, and various collections at participating retailers. The expansion will also be available digitally starting November 13, 2025, via the Pokémon TCG Live app for iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows devices.
Pre-release Opportunities
Enthusiasts will have the chance to experience Phantasmal Flames before its official launch by participating in Prerelease tournaments, which begin November 1, 2025, at participating independent retailers.
