Perrie Edwards Makes Bold Solo Return with Self-Titled Album After Creative Reset
A Fresh Chapter Begins
Since Little Mix went on hiatus in 2022, Perrie Edwards has been carving her own path in music, releasing multiple singles including ‘Forget About Us,’ ‘Tears,’ ‘You Go Your Way,’ and ‘Me, Myself & You’.
Set to release on September 26, 2025, her debut solo album ‘Perrie’ comes alongside her latest single ‘If He Wanted To He Would,’ co-written with Nina Nesbitt and The Nocturns. The single explores toxic relationships from a friend’s perspective, with its music video paying homage to classic romantic comedies including The Holiday, Bridesmaids, and Pretty Woman.
The Journey to Authenticity
Edwards’ path to this album hasn’t been straightforward. After launching her solo career in 2024, she took a pause over the Christmas period to reassess her direction, later revealing to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that she had been feeling pressured to release music quickly and wasn’t happy with her initial direction.
The artist made the bold decision to scrap some of her originally recorded songs, focusing instead on writing more material herself. While the first version of the album featured mostly songs written by others, the current version showcases Edwards’ own songwriting, with only four or five tracks written by other artists.
Star-Studded Collaborations
Edwards signed with Columbia Records in 2023, joining the ranks of artists like Harry Styles and Beyoncé, and has worked on songs she’s either written or co-written with industry heavyweights like Raye and Ed Sheeran. The album features an impressive roster of collaborators, including Fred again.. and pop supremo Steve Mac.
Looking Ahead
Speaking about the finished product, Edwards expressed her pride in the album, stating, “I absolutely love the album I have created and I’m really proud of it. This is the music I want to make and I’m super excited to release it to the world this September.” She has also shown support for her fellow Little Mix members Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock in their solo endeavors, marking an exciting new era for all three artists.
