A Highly Anticipated Return

Nobody 2, directed by Timo Tjahjanto, serves as the sequel to the 2021 hit film Nobody. The film features the return of Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, RZA, Colin Salmon, and Christopher Lloyd, with new additions including John Ortiz, Colin Hanks, and Sharon Stone.

Plot and Performance

The story follows Hutch Mansell, who now works as an assassin for The Barber to pay off his debt after destroying a Russian obshchak. His new career has strained his family relationships, particularly with his wife Becca, leading him to request a break to focus on his family.

In an attempt to reconnect with his loved ones, Hutch takes his family to a vacation park from his childhood. However, the situation quickly deteriorates when he discovers the park is controlled by corrupt criminals led by mafia boss Lendina (Sharon Stone). Unaware of Hutch’s connections to the criminal underworld, Lendina dispatches her best operatives after him and his family.

Box Office and Reception

As of September 3, 2025, Nobody 2 has accumulated $36.4 million worldwide, with $20.6 million from domestic markets. The film has received positive reviews, with 78% of critics giving favorable ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics particularly praise Bob Odenkirk’s performance, noting how he “works overtime to make Nobody 2 a diverting sequel that measures up admirably to the original”.

Digital Release and Future

Universal Pictures has announced that Nobody 2 will be available for digital purchase or rental starting September 2, with a 4K UHD and Blu-ray release following on October 7. The film’s ending leaves room for a potential third installment, and while the franchise’s future remains uncertain, Odenkirk has expressed interest in returning as Hutch. The sequel shows promise as a digital release, following the tradition of successful mid-budget action movies in the VOD market.
