Laura Robson Takes Helm of Historic Queen’s Club Women’s Tournament for 2025
A New Chapter in British Tennis
The LTA has announced Laura Robson’s appointment as Tournament Director of the new Women’s WTA 500 event at The Queen’s Club in London, marking a significant moment as women’s tour level tennis returns to London for the first time in over 50 years.
From Player to Director
Robson previously served as Tournament Director of the Nottingham Open WTA 250 / ATP Challenger Event, taking the position in 2023 as part of the LTA’s initiative to involve former players in post-retirement tennis roles. Her successful management of the Birmingham tournament impressed LTA officials, leading to this prestigious appointment at Queen’s Club.
Tournament Details and Star Power
The iconic Queen’s Club will host the women’s tournament from 2025, with the event scheduled for the week after the French Open, while the men’s tournament will follow in subsequent weeks. The tournament has already attracted significant interest, with notable players including Naomi Osaka, Madison Keys, Daria Kasatkina, Katie Boulter, and Emma Raducanu committing to participate.
Vision for the Future
Speaking about her new role, Robson expressed her enthusiasm: “I’m delighted to be taking up this role next summer. It’s very exciting that women’s tennis is returning to the Queen’s Club for the first time in over 50 years. It’s an iconic venue and has been voted Tournament of the Year by the men many times.” She received significant praise for her previous work at Nottingham, earning plaudits from players.
The tournament is already generating substantial interest, with the ATP Tour event at Queen’s Club traditionally selling out quickly and attracting major brands for hospitality. Organizers are optimistic that the women’s event, featuring Grand Slam champions and British stars, will draw similarly enthusiastic crowds.
