A New Chapter in British Tennis

Laura Robson, the former British No.1 and Olympic Silver medalist, has been appointed as Tournament Director of a groundbreaking new event that will bring women’s tour level tennis back to London for the first time in over 50 years.

From Player to Director

After announcing her retirement from professional tennis in May 2022 at age 28, Robson has successfully transitioned into tournament management. She served as tournament director at the Nottingham Open in 2023 and 2024. Her performance in these roles earned her significant praise, with players particularly commending her work at Nottingham.

The Queen’s Club Event

The tournament scheduling has been carefully planned, with the women’s event set to take place the week after the French Open, followed by the men’s tournament. The field already promises to be impressive, featuring top players including Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, Zheng Qinwen, Emma Navarro, as well as British hopes Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter. The lineup also includes Elena Rybakina and current Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova.

Prize Money and Tournament Status

The tournament comes with a substantial total prize money commitment of $1,064,510, with the winner set to receive $164,000 and 500 ranking points. Finalists will earn 325 points and $101,000.

Robson’s Vision

Speaking about her new role, Robson expressed her excitement: “I’m delighted to be taking up this role next summer. It’s very exciting that women’s tennis is returning to the Queen’s Club for the first time in over 50 years. It’s an iconic venue and has been voted Tournament of the Year by the men many times.”
