From Screen to Soil: A Successful Transition

Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher established a new life for himself and his family in 2021 when they purchased a 120-acre farm in the Peak District. Today, Fletcher, 40, manages the farm alongside his wife Liz and their four young children.

The family’s farming journey has proved so compelling that their television show, ‘Fletchers’ Family Farm,’ has been officially renewed for a third series by ITV, with Yorkshire-based production company Daisybeck Studios confirming the continuation of their agricultural adventures.

Agricultural Advocacy and Mental Health

In recent developments, Fletcher has emerged as a vocal advocate for farmers’ mental health, working to break down stigma within the agricultural community. He emphasizes that prioritizing mental health is crucial not only for individual farmers but for the entire country’s agricultural sustainability and resilience. His advocacy focuses on encouraging open communication, building support networks, and maintaining self-care practices while managing farming challenges.

Farm Diversification and Growth

The Fletchers have successfully diversified their farm operations, including renovating an 18th-century holiday let that has exceeded expectations. They regularly welcome guests to their property and continue to expand their offerings through various events, demonstrating the versatility of modern farming enterprises.

The farm currently houses 28 sheep, with plans to expand the flock to approximately 80 animals. Additionally, their livestock includes three pigs, three alpacas, and two rabbits.

Looking Ahead

The success of their farming venture and associated television show has resonated strongly with audiences, achieving what Fletcher describes as ‘absolutely incredible’ reception from viewers. Fletcher has also released a memoir titled ‘Fletchers on the Farm: Mud, Mayhem and Marriage,’ which chronicles their journey as they balance acting careers, raising four young children, and managing a farm full of animals. The book offers insights into building and maintaining a happy farm and family while pursuing dreams, even without prior experience.
