Historic Wimbledon Victory

Dubbed the ‘queen of clay’, Iga Świątek has now earned the title of queen of grass after delivering the most complete performance of her career at the Wimbledon 2025 women’s singles final, where she defeated Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 in just 57 minutes on Saturday, 13 July.

This milestone victory marked her 100th win in Grand Slam singles career and made her the first Polish singles champion at SW19, earning a record prize-money pot of £3million ($4million).

Career Achievements and Milestones

Świątek has now accumulated an impressive 24 WTA Tour-level singles titles, including six major titles: four at the French Open, one at Wimbledon, and one at the US Open. She has also claimed the 2023 WTA Finals and eleven WTA 1000 titles.

Her Grand Slam victories span all surfaces, with four titles on clay at Roland Garros (2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024), one on hard courts at the US Open (2022), and now her first on grass at Wimbledon in 2025. At 24, she has become the youngest woman to win majors on all three surfaces since Serena Williams.

Recent Challenges and Comeback

In August 2024, Świątek faced a setback when she tested positive for trimetazidine, a banned heart medication. An investigation by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) determined that she had inadvertently ingested the substance through an over-the-counter melatonin medication, resulting in a one-month suspension from competition.

Current Standing and Future Prospects

Currently ranked No. 2 in women’s singles by the WTA, Świątek has held the world No. 1 ranking for a total of 125 weeks. She is the only active woman to have won three different majors, with the Australian Open being the only Grand Slam missing from her collection. With the Australian Open just six months away, there’s speculation about a potential Career Slam on the horizon.
