The first opportunity to secure regular tickets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has arrived, though fans should be prepared: tickets won’t be easy to obtain and will come at a premium.

FIFA anticipates over 5 million attendees for the 2026 edition, which would break the previous record of 3.5 million spectators set when the US last hosted in 1994.

Ticket Sales Process and Pricing

The initial phase begins with a Visa Presale Draw, essentially a lottery system, open to FIFA account holders with Visa cards from September 10-19. Successful applicants will be notified around September 29 and assigned specific purchase time slots starting October 1.

FIFA has announced that group-stage tickets will start at $60 as an ‘accessible entry point,’ though premium tickets for the final could cost up to $6,730. For the first time in World Cup history, the organization will implement ‘variable pricing’ based on demand.

Tournament Scale and Accessibility

This will be FIFA’s largest tournament ever, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches across three countries.
