A Legend Returns with Modern Power

Ferrari has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the 849 Testarossa, in Milan, Italy, marking a significant refresh of its hybrid range and paying tribute to the iconic Testarossa model of the 1980s.

The legendary Testarossa name, first used in 1956 on the 500 TR to describe the red-colored cam covers of Ferrari’s most extreme racing engines, returns to Maranello’s lineup.

Revolutionary Performance

The new Ferrari 849 Testarossa features a plug-in hybrid twin-turbocharged V8 producing 1,035bhp. Within Ferrari’s lineup, it positions itself below the flagship F80 but above the 296 GTB, serving as the successor to the SF90. The powertrain has been completely re-engineered compared to its predecessor.

The revised V8 engine alone delivers 818 horsepower, while three electric motors—two at the front and one at the rear—add 216 hp, providing all-wheel drive with torque vectoring. The car can travel 16 miles on battery power alone at speeds up to 81 mph. These combined elements enable the Testarossa to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.3 seconds, with a top speed of 205 mph.

Technical Innovation

The 849 Testarossa comes equipped with Ferrari’s latest ABS Evo controller and a new braking system, improving precision and consistency in all conditions. The spring and damper setup has been completely revised for enhanced performance at the limits. Despite the massive power increase, extensive weight reduction means the car maintains the same weight as its predecessor, the SF90 Stradale.

Market Position and Availability

The starting price is set at 460,000 euros ($540,000) for the coupe and 500,000 euros for the spider version, with initial deliveries scheduled for the second and third quarter of next year. U.S. deliveries will begin approximately three months later, with higher prices due to import tariffs.

This latest model represents Ferrari’s highest performance offering in standard production form, combining raw power with a focus on comfort and daily drivability through its plug-in hybrid, twin-turbo V-8 powertrain.
