A Year of Transformative Roles

Billie Piper has recently completed filming her role as Capri in the highly anticipated second season of Netflix’s Wednesday, set to release in 2025. In this new role, Piper portrays Isadora Capri, the new music professor at Nevermore Academy, and notably performs on screen for the first time since ending her music career, including a memorable duet with Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Doctor Who Surprise

In a shocking development for Doctor Who fans, the Season 15 finale saw Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th Doctor regenerate to take the form of Piper’s Rose Tyler. Speaking at Florida Supercon about her return, Piper described the experience as ‘very emotional to film’ and ‘really great ending,’ noting that the production had a ‘cloak-and-dagger feeling about getting it made’.

Fashion Industry Breakthrough

In another significant career move, British footwear label Russell & Bromley has chosen Piper as their first celebrity campaign face in their 145-year history, with the actress fronting their fall 2025 campaign themed ‘Rebellious Traditions’. This campaign launch coincides with the debut collection under Daniel Beardsworth-Shaw, the company’s first creative director, as part of their five-year transformation plan.

Critical Acclaim and Future Projects

Piper’s artistic journey continues to earn recognition, having won the 2017 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in Yerma. Her recent work in Sky Atlantic’s I Hate Suzie (2020-2022) earned her BAFTA nominations for Best Actress in both 2021 and 2023. Looking ahead, she is set to executive produce and star in a Netflix series adaptation of Terri White’s memoir ‘Coming Undone’ and will play Sam McAlister in ‘Scoop’, a Netflix adaptation about the famous Newsnight interview with Prince Andrew.
