New Face Joins Beloved Countryside Show

BBC One’s Countryfile has announced an exciting addition to its presenting team with Radio 1 DJ and TV star Vick Hope joining the programme. Hope will work alongside established presenters including John Craven, Matt Baker, Anita Rani, Adam Henson, Hamza Yassin, and others.

Speaking about her new role, Hope expressed her enthusiasm: “I’m delighted to be joining the Countryfile team – spending time in nature has always been hugely important to me.” Her first assignment will take her to Kielder Forest, an area she knows well from childhood orienteering adventures.

Programme’s Continuing Legacy

Countryfile, which airs 52 weeks of the year, features two lead presenters visiting different regions each episode, exploring the distinctive stories, characters, and traditions of each area. The programme covers a broad range of topics including wildlife, conservation, farming, food production, countryside crafts, and social history.

Current Focus and Special Features

The programme is currently working on its 2026 Calendar project at Bolton Abbey in North Yorkshire, where presenters John Craven and Hamza Yassin, along with guest judge Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock, are selecting the final images. The calendar raises money for BBC Children in Need, while Hamza explores the spectacular landscape and works to document local wildlife conservation efforts.

Looking to the Future

According to Commissioning Editor Jasmyn McGuile, “Countryfile is one of our most-loved series and Vick is the perfect addition to our presenting team. We’re delighted she’s chosen to join us and we know viewers will love following her many adventures to come.” The programme continues to evolve with the times, covering contemporary rural issues such as new laws addressing rural crime and the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in British agriculture.
