Arriva Group has unveiled ambitious plans to invest €400 million in zero-emission vehicles and infrastructure for contracts starting during 2025, demonstrating its strong commitment to decarbonisation across the UK and Europe.
The company’s zero-emission bus fleet is expected to nearly double by the end of 2025, reaching approximately 1,300 vehicles. This transformation comes at a pivotal time for the organization, as I Squared Capital has recently completed its acquisition of Arriva from Deutsche Bahn, promising significant long-term capital support for growth and decarbonisation initiatives.
Strategic Expansion and Contract Wins
The company has secured a significant €1.6 billion contract extension to operate public bus services in East Brabant, which will enable increased services, new routes, and faster connections across the region. This extension strengthens Arriva’s position in a key liberalising European market and supports its strategic growth ambitions.
The company is also expanding its presence in the Czech Republic, with new services that will significantly grow its network in the West Bohemia region, providing enhanced connectivity between Prague, the Pilsen region, and the Karlovy Vary region near the German border.
