Major Investment Programme Launches

Anglian Water has initiated its largest ever business plan, representing an £11 billion investment over the next five years. This comprehensive programme demonstrates the company’s commitment to improving water infrastructure and environmental protection across the East of England.

Environmental Protection and Infrastructure Development

The water company has earmarked £1 billion specifically for addressing storm discharges and pollution. Additionally, the company is developing several major infrastructure projects, including two new reservoirs in the Fens and Lincolnshire.

Future Leadership and Growth

The company has opened applications for its graduate programme, welcoming 21 candidates to a two-year programme. Successful candidates will have opportunities across leadership, operational and project management roles on transformative projects, with guaranteed permanent positions upon completion.

Regional Challenges and Expansion

As one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, Anglian Water expects 720,000 new residents by 2043. The updated housing figures in the National Planning Policy Framework have indicated an increase of approximately 75,000 homes across the region by 2030, presenting both challenges and opportunities for the utility provider.

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment

The company has initiated a significant procurement process for ecological and hydrological survey services. This framework, valued at up to £47M over the asset management period, will support capital delivery and environmental programmes, including key regulatory and biodiversity initiatives such as the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).
