Amgen Irish Open 2025: Elite Field Gathers as McIlroy Seeks Second Home Victory

Star-Studded Field Returns to Historic K Club
The DP World Tour’s Back 9 continues with an elite field gathering at The K Club for the Amgen Irish Open, where World Number Two Rory McIlroy heads the field. McIlroy returns to the event seeking his second Irish Open title, following his victory at the same venue in 2016, and makes his first appearance as a career Grand Slam winner after his Masters Tournament triumph.
Major Champions and Home Favourites
The tournament features an impressive lineup of home favourites, including Major Champions Shane Lowry and Pádraig Harrington, along with Séamus Power. The field is further strengthened by other Major winners, including Francesco Molinari, Danny Willett, and Patrick Reed – making it three Masters champions competing at The K Club.
With Brooks Koepka’s three US PGA Championships and two U.S. Opens included, the tournament boasts an impressive total of 17 Major wins among its participants.
Venue’s Rich Heritage
The K Club holds a distinguished place in Irish golf history, having hosted 13 European Opens, two Irish Opens, and a Ryder Cup since 1995. The venue is already confirmed to host the Amgen Irish Open again in 2027.
Strong European Representation
Beyond the Major champions, the field features an impressive depth of talent. Tyrrell Hatton joins Ryder Cup teammates McIlroy and Lowry, while Europe Captain Luke Donald and Vice Captain Francesco Molinari add to the anticipation ahead of golf’s biggest team event.
The tournament includes all five winners from the International Swing, with five victories between them this season, alongside 20 other victors from the 2025 campaign. The field is further enhanced by PGA TOUR regulars Jhonattan Vegas, Erik van Rooyen, and Ryan Gerard, the latter fresh from his victory at the Barracuda Championship.
