2XKO Closed Beta Launch: Riot Games’ Latest Fighting Game Innovation Enters Testing Phase
A New Era in Fighting Games
2XKO, originally introduced as Project L, represents Riot Games’ first venture into the fighting game genre. The game uniquely combines familiar League of Legends champions with fast-paced, team-based fighting mechanics, designed to appeal to both casual players and competitive veterans.
Closed Beta Launch Details
The closed beta for 2XKO officially begins on September 9, 2025, exclusively for PC players. This marks the beginning of the game’s full rollout, with plans to gradually expand access to more players.
The closed beta launches with an impressive roster of nine League of Legends champions, including Darius, Ahri, Ekko, Yasuo, Illaoi, Braum, Jinx, Vi, and Blitzcrank.
Game Features and Systems
The beta introduces new offline modes, which are particularly significant for competitive events and tournament organizers. Players will progress through a comprehensive ranking system, advancing through tiers from Aspirant to Grandmaster, demonstrating Riot’s commitment to competitive play.
Ranked mode will be enabled on September 18, during the second week of the beta, though progress will reset after the beta ends. The beta will feature various cosmetics, including champion chromas, which can be earned through completing missions with Credits. Notably, there will be no real-money transactions during this phase.
Future Prospects
While 2XKO is confirmed for a 2025 launch, Riot Games has not yet announced a specific release window, though estimates suggest a latter half of the year release. The developers remain tight-lipped about the official release date even as the closed beta begins. The full game is planned for release on multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
