Market Leadership and Current Performance

TVN24 continues to maintain its position as the leader among news stations in Poland, achieving an impressive 6% share among all viewers and 3.8% of the commercial audience.

The success of TVN24 contributes to the broader dominance of TVN Warner Bros. Discovery in the Polish TV market, where the group’s average audience share reached 22.4% of total audiences in 2024, with the commercial channel TVN securing first place in the 20-54 viewers group.

Potential Ownership Changes

Recent developments suggest potential changes on the horizon, as Warner Bros Discovery is reportedly working with JPMorgan advisers on a potential sale of the broadcaster, including news channels TVN24 and TVN24BiS. Industry analysts estimate the deal could be valued at up to €1 billion.

Multiple parties have expressed interest in acquiring the broadcaster, including Polish businessman Michal Solowow and media group WP Holding. However, Poland’s President Donald Tusk has indicated plans to block the sale of broadcasters to what he describes as “hostile” states.

Strategic Importance and Future Outlook

TVN24, which launched on August 9, 2001, has established itself as Poland’s premier 24-hour commercial news channel. The channel is currently owned by US-based media company Warner Bros. Discovery, following the merger of Discovery, Inc. in 2022.

The channel maintains broad accessibility across all digital platforms in Poland, including Polsat Box and Platforma Canal+, as well as most cable networks. Its reach extends internationally, with availability in several countries including the United States through Dish Network and Germany.

The broadcaster’s digital presence has also shown significant growth, with the Max platform and Player service attracting nearly 6.7 million Real Users when Max made its debut in June 2024.
