Laura Whitmore’s Theatre Triumph: From Love Island to Leading Lady in 2025

A New Chapter in Theatre
Laura Whitmore, the Irish media personality known for presenting shows like MTV and Love Island, is making significant strides in her theatrical career in 2025.
The former Love Island host is set to take on the challenging role of Rachel Watson – previously portrayed by Emily Blunt in the Dreamworks film – in ‘The Girl on the Train’. Her performances begin at Brighton’s Theatre Royal on June 3rd, 2025, and will continue until the end of August at Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.
Multiple Stage Productions
Prior to ‘The Girl on the Train’, Whitmore is starring in ‘Apex Predator’ at Hampstead’s main stage from March 22 to April 26, 2025. In this genre-busting new play by John Donnelly, which promises to be a sophisticated critique of contemporary life and a supernatural thriller, she plays the role of Ana.
Beyond her theatre work, Whitmore continues her broadcasting career, having launched the documentary series ‘Laura Whitmore Investigates’ in 2023 and currently hosts the BBC Podcast ‘Murder They Wrote’ alongside her husband Iain Stirling.
Personal Connection to the Role
Speaking about joining ‘The Girl on the Train’ tour, Whitmore expressed her enthusiasm: “I read the book when it first came out and was completely captivated. I love it when a story consumes you – where you wake up early to read more or stay up late to finish.” The international phenomenon has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.
Rising Theatre Star
With her theatre background from the Leinster School of Music and Drama and Shakespeare studies at RADA, Whitmore has steadily built her acting credentials. Her previous work includes several film and TV acting roles, and she notably returned to Dublin to play Lauren in ‘2.22: A Ghost Story’ in 2024.
