A Fresh Chapter in Saint Marie

Death in Paradise, the beloved British-French crime comedy drama set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie (filmed in Guadeloupe), continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of mystery and tropical charm.

The series has proven its enduring appeal, emerging as the UK’s most-watched returning drama in 2024 across all broadcasters and streamers, with BBC Studios now distributing the show to over 230 territories globally.

New Detective, New Mysteries

The latest season introduces DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) as the new lead detective. Following a challenging Christmas case and the news of his estranged mother’s passing, Wilson initially plans to leave the island. However, a case close to the station’s heart might convince him to extend his stay, even as his presence continues to shake things up within the team.

Alongside Gilet, the series features returning favorites including Don Warrington as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, Shantol Jackson as DS Naomi Thomas, Ginny Holder, and Élizabeth Bourgine.

Expanding Universe

The Death in Paradise franchise has expanded its reach with successful spin-offs, including Beyond Paradise launched in 2023 and the Australia-set Return to Paradise. The original series continues to charm viewers with its winning formula of engaging mysteries and stunning scenery, offering the perfect blend of escapism, puzzling cases, and unexpected plot twists against its sun-drenched Caribbean backdrop.

With the most recent series, series 14, having wrapped on March 28, 2025, fans can take comfort in knowing that the show has already been renewed for at least one more series, ensuring more mysteries will be solved on Saint Marie until 2026.
