Polestar 5: Swedish Brand’s Most Powerful Electric GT Prepares for 2025 Launch
A New Chapter in Electric Performance
Polestar is gearing up to launch its most capable EV to date at the IAA 2025 (2025 Munich Motor Show) in September, with sales expected to begin in late 2025.
Revolutionary Performance and Technology
The Polestar 5 will be available in two variants: Dual Motor and Performance. The high-performance model will deliver an impressive 884 horsepower, while the standard Dual Motor version will still produce 748 horsepower and is expected to offer extended range.
The vehicle will feature bidirectional charging capabilities and is targeting a range of more than 373 miles (WLTP). Its advanced 800V architecture enables ultra-fast charging, with prototype testing achieving charging rates over 370 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just ten minutes.
Premium Engineering and Design
Built on Polestar’s first bespoke EV architecture, developed by the UK R&D team, the vehicle features a bonded aluminum body and incorporates sustainable materials, including natural fiber composite panels and 3D-knitted upholstery made from recycled PET.
The exterior design showcases a fastback roofline with aggressive raised lines on the hood and rear corners. While the production version maintains the concept’s overall aesthetic, it adopts conventional doors instead of the concept’s coach doors.
Market Positioning and Competition
Polestar positions the 5 as an F-segment vehicle, targeting direct competition with the Porsche Panamera and Mercedes-Benz EQS. Pricing is expected to align with these premium competitors, which start at £83,500 and £99,835 respectively.
Unlike Polestar’s other models designed for high volume, the 5 will be a niche model showcasing the brand’s cutting-edge innovations and elevating its status to compete with established German luxury manufacturers.
