Historic Return to New York

For the first time in 90 years, the Ryder Cup returns to the NYC Metropolitan Area, with Bethpage Black set to host one of the largest events in golf history.

The 45th Ryder Cup Matches will take place from September 26–28, 2025, at the Black Course of Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York. Europe currently holds the trophy following their victory over the United States in 2023 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.

Tournament Format and Schedule

The competition will commence on Friday, September 26, with morning foursomes (alternate shot) followed by four-ball in the afternoon. This format will be repeated on Saturday, September 27, before concluding with 12 singles matches on Sunday, September 28.

Team Captains and Qualification

Keegan Bradley will lead the U.S. team, becoming the youngest Ryder Cup captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963. Luke Donald returns as the European team captain following their victorious 2023 campaign, making him the first European to repeat his captaincy since Bernard Gallacher in 1993.

The Legendary Venue

Bethpage Black, which opened in 1936, has risen to prominence since the turn of the century, hosting several prestigious tournaments including two U.S. Opens and a PGA Championship. Despite its prestigious status, it remains one of the best public golf courses in the US, with reasonable green fees ranging from $44 for NY state residents to $160 for out-of-state players on weekends.

Anticipated Atmosphere

The 2025 Ryder Cup is expected to be one of the most unforgettable events in professional golf history. The tournament’s atmosphere will be particularly noteworthy, as Ryder Cup crowds have become increasingly passionate, and bringing the tournament to New York with its fervent sports fans could create an even more electric environment.

Historical Significance

Bethpage Black will make history as only the second New York course to host a Ryder Cup, joining Oak Hill Country Club in this prestigious distinction. Historical statistics favor the Americans when using this tournament format, with the U.S. holding a 9-3-1 record in Ryder Cups where foursomes have led off play on both Friday and Saturday.
