The Road to F1 Continues: 2025 F2 Championship Update

The 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship is in full swing, with fourteen rounds making up the season, all supporting events of the FIA Formula One World Championship, featuring 28 races across 13 countries.

Current Season Highlights

As a spec series, all teams are competing with identical Dallara F2 2024 chassis, powered by V6 turbo engines developed by Mecachrome, with tyres supplied by Pirelli. The 2025 season has brought exciting changes, including Hitech Grand Prix’s collaboration with Toyota Gazoo Racing, Invicta Racing’s management changes, and the historic entry of AIX Racing as the first Middle Eastern team in the championship’s history.

Upcoming Race Weekend

The championship is set to resume after the summer break with Round 11 at Monza, Italy, scheduled for September 05-07. Drivers can accumulate up to 39 points per weekend, with points awarded for qualifying (2 points for pole position), Sprint Race (top 8 scoring 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1), and Feature Race (top 10 scoring 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1). Additional points are awarded for fastest laps in both races.

Looking Ahead

Following the Monza round, the championship will move to Baku, Azerbaijan (September 19-21), before heading to Lusail, Qatar (November 28-30), with the season finale set for the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi (December 05-07).

Championship Significance

Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali emphasizes the importance of F2, noting that ‘the pyramid system is vital to the long-term success of Formula 1,’ providing drivers with competitive experience on F1 circuits while showcasing their talent to global audiences and F1 teams.
