A New Chapter Begins

Tom Holland is returning to his iconic role in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, with ‘Shang-Chi’ director Destin Daniel Cretton taking the helm. The film marks a significant shift in approach, embracing an ‘old school filmmaking’ style.

Back to Basics

Holland has revealed that unlike the previous film, which was restricted by COVID-19 and shot entirely on stages, this new installment will feature real locations, beginning with filming in Glasgow. The actor has taken an unprecedented level of involvement in the project, including participating in the suit design process and conducting extensive research into fan expectations, which he’s brought directly to studio executives.

New Look, New Story

On August 1, 2025, fans got their first glimpse of the new Spider-Man costume, featuring comics-accurate red and blue colors and raised webbing. The story follows Peter Parker after Dr. Strange’s spell in ‘No Way Home’, with the world having forgotten his identity as Spider-Man, focusing on his efforts to protect New York City from street-level crime.

Star-Studded Cast

The film will see the return of Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned, while welcoming Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role.

Looking Ahead

Set to release on July 31, 2026, Holland is ‘over the moon’ about returning to the role, comparing it to ‘hanging out with an old pal.’ The actor believes fans will be thrilled with what they’re putting together, following the massive success of ‘No Way Home’, which grossed $1.9 billion worldwide.
