A New Psychological Thriller Arrives on BBC

BBC’s latest psychological thriller ‘The Guest’ is set to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on September 1st, 2025, starring acclaimed actresses Eve Myles and Gabrielle Creevy.

Plot and Premise

The four-part series centers on the complex relationship between Fran (Eve Myles), a successful business owner, and her employee Ria (Gabrielle Creevy). Ria, who has never had the opportunity to explore her ambitions, becomes intoxicated by her confident and self-assured employer.

The story takes a dark turn when Fran’s influence leads to a shocking event, entangling both women in shared secrets and dangerous plots. The series evolves into a compelling game of cat-and-mouse that will keep viewers guessing ‘who is playing who?’

Written by Matthew Barry, who has reunited with Quay Street Productions and the BBC, the series goes beyond being just a thriller. It serves as a pointed examination of class, social mobility, and the growing disparity between society’s upper and lower echelons.

Welsh Production Excellence

Following in the footsteps of successful Welsh productions like ‘Keeping Faith’ and ‘The Pact’, the series was filmed in and around Cardiff, Wales. The production received Welsh Government support through Creative Wales and was produced by Quay Street Productions.
