Historic Setting and Format

The 45th Ryder Cup will take place at the historic Bethpage Black Course, designed by architect A.W. Tillinghast, marking the first time this venue will host the prestigious event, joining Oak Hill Country Club as only the second New York course to host a Ryder Cup.

Team Europe enters as the defending champions after their impressive 16½-11½ victory at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in 2023, and they’re aiming to achieve their first away victory since Medinah in 2012.

Leadership and Team Structure

Keegan Bradley will lead Team USA as their captain, becoming the youngest Ryder Cup captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963. For Team Europe, Luke Donald returns as captain following their 2023 victory, making him the first European to repeat his captaincy since Bernard Gallacher in 1993.

Historic Payment Introduction

In a significant departure from tradition, American players will receive compensation for competing in the 2025 Ryder Cup. After nearly a century of players competing without appearance fees, the PGA of America has announced that each Team USA member will receive $500,000, with $300,000 of that amount designated for charitable donations of the player’s choice.

Competition Format and Schedule

The tournament will feature five sessions over three days, with four foursome matches and four four-ball matches during the first two days. The event culminates in 12 singles matches on Sunday, with a total of 28 matches and 28 points available. In the event of a 14-14 tie, the previous winning team retains the Cup.

The atmosphere promises to be electric, with an expected crowd of 35,000 spectators at Bethpage Black supporting Team USA in their bid to recapture the Ryder Cup.
